JUVEDERM FILLER DENVER

The Juvederm collection of fillers is a line of injectable products made with Hyaluronic acid, or HA, which is a naturally occurring substance that delivers volume to the skin. Juvederm is a long-lasting, non-surgical treatment option that contains a modified form of HA to temporarily lift and contour cheeks, smooth lines, or plump lips by temporarily restoring your skin’s volume. The Juvederm Collection has five different formulations of injectable fillers to address different aesthetic goals.

How does Juvederm work?

Juvderm dermal fillers are smooth, crystal-clear gels product formulated with Hyaluronic acid (HA) which is a pivotal building block of our skin and a naturally occurring substance already found in our bodies. HA is a natural substance in the skin that delivers nutrients, helps the skin retain moisture and softness, and adds volume. Each product in the Juvderm Collection of Fillers is made from a modified form of HA.

In addition to adding volume for anti-aging concerns, HA dermal fillers can be injected into areas of the face to help balance and contour facial features. Adding Juvederm Voluma to the jawline and chin can define and bring symmetry to the face.

TYPES OF JUVEDERM DERMAL FILLER

  • Juvederm Voluma is designed to add volume beneath the skin's surface, which provides lift and contour to the cheek area to restore a youthful shape to face. Voluma is also indicated for to shape and define the chin giving you a professional contour beyond makeup.

  • Juvederm Vollure is ideal for improving moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds occur, including marionette lines and nasolabial folds or smile lines around the nose and mouth.

  • Juvederm Ultra Plus is approved for smoothing and correcting moderate to severe parentheses lines, such as nasolabial folds (smile lines around the nose and mouth) and can also be used to add fullness and plump thin lips.

  • Juvederm Ultra is the original formulation and can help improve moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. Ultra can also be used to add fullness and plump thin lips.

What happens during my JUVEDERM treatment?

Prior to treatment, you will have a consultation with your injector to discuss your goals, expectations, and determine which dermal filler products will be right for you. We will also review pre-treatment prep (what to avoid two weeks prior) and what to expect post filler treatment.

Juvederm injections are done in-office and take about an hour. When you arrive for your appointment, photos will be taken and a topical numbing cream will be applied. Most HA fillers are infused with lidocaine to help minimize discomfort during and after treatment, and the topical numbing agent and icing helps to make the treatment more comfortable.

Your injector will slowly inject the Juvederm product to the specific areas of the face using a fine-gauge needle or microcannula. The gel is injected in small amounts with your injector gently massaging and shaping the product with their fingers, and then injecting again to distribute the product evenly and aesthetically. Results are immediate and will improve in the next two weeks as you heal.

What happens after my filler treatment?

Your injector will apply ice immediately after your injections to minimize bruising. Since everyone heals differently, your recovery will depend on you. You may experience swelling, slight redness, tenderness and bruising as with any injectable treatment, this typically only lasts 3-5 days. Minimize bruising and swelling by avoiding heat, strenuous exercise and alcohol for 48 hours.

How long do Juvederm Fillers last?

Two weeks after your Juvederm Filler treatment the product will have fully integrated and swelling will have resolved. We ask all filler patients to return to the office for a 2-week follow up and photos to make sure you love your results! Dr. Zamora’s philosophy with fillers is “less is more” so we always inject conservatively. The 2-week followup is a great time to add more product if you want. Filler results are temporary, lasting 6 to 12 months or longer before the body gradually and naturally absorbs the particles. Areas of the face with more movement tend to dissolve more quickly. We recommend scheduling your next filler treatment before you need it so you can maintain a natural looking and consistent result.

What are the side effects?

During clinical trials, patients reported mild itchiness, tenderness, swelling, and bruising at the injection site but these typically resolve within 2-weeks. Bumps and lumps can also develop, but this risk is reduced when you choose an experienced, reputable injector. Serious complications with Juvederm are rare and can be avoided by receiving treatment in a reputable aesthetics practice with experienced injectors. Patients who have received filler treatments from inexperienced providers are more likely to see serious risks such as infection, blood vessel damage, or asymmetrical results. You should avoid Juvederm products if have previously had an allergic reaction to HA fillers or if you are allergic to anesthetics such as lidocaine.
