NOT ALL FILLERS ARE CREATED EQUAL

Juvederm vs. Restylane: Which is Right for You?

Both Juvederm and Restylane are families of hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers, each with unique formulations designed to treat specific areas of the face. While both offer long-lasting, natural results, the ideal product depends on your facial anatomy, desired outcome, and the level of support or softness needed.

Our experienced injectors will guide you through the best choice—or combination—for your treatment plan.

JUVEDERM FILLER

Jack Zamora MD Dr Kober Advanced Injector

WILL I LOOK OVERDONE?

Never. Our injectors specialize in refined, natural-looking results that enhance your features, not change your face. At Jack Zamora MD, we follow Dr. Zamora’s “less is more” philosophy, focusing on harmony, subtlety, and elegant enhancement, not volume for volume’s sake.

To ensure every result is balanced and beautiful, we have all filler patients return for a two-week follow-up visit. This allows us to assess how the product has settled, review healing, and refine or adjust as needed for the best possible outcome.

Whether you're new to filler or enhancing previous work, our goal is always the same: make you look like you.

What to Expect During Your Filler Appointment

  • Your experience begins with a personalized consultation to review your facial anatomy, goals, and the ideal product or combination for you

  • Treatment areas will be mapped out, and topical numbing applied for comfort

  • Your injector will use a fine-gauge needle or microcannula to carefully inject the filler in small, controlled amounts

  • The product is gently massaged and shaped during treatment to ensure smooth, even, and aesthetic results

  • Most filler appointments take 30–45 minutes, and you’ll see immediate results, with full improvement over the next 7–14 days as swelling subsides and the product settles

Mild swelling, tenderness, and occasional bruising are common after filler injections and typically resolve within a few days. Most patients return to normal activities right away, though we recommend taking it easy for the first 24 hours.

Post-Treatment Tips for Best Results:

  • Avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, and excessive heat (hot tubs, saunas, sun exposure) for 24 hours

  • Do not massage, rub, or apply pressure to the treated areas unless instructed

  • Sleep with your head elevated the first night to minimize swelling

  • Avoid dental work, facials, or skin treatments for 2 weeks in the treated area

  • Use ice packs as needed for swelling (5–10 minutes at a time with a barrier like gauze or cloth)

  • Stay hydrated and follow any personalized care instructions from your injector

You’ll start to see improvement immediately, with optimal results developing as swelling subsides typically by day 7 to 14. This is why we schedule a two-week follow-up to assess healing and make any minor refinements if needed.

What to Expect After Filler

How long do Filler Results Last?

  • Dermal filler results are long-lasting but not permanent. On average, most patients enjoy results for 6 to 18 months, depending on the area treated, the product used, and how their body metabolizes hyaluronic acid.

  • What Affects Filler Longevity?

    • Product choice: Some fillers are designed to last longer or provide more structure (e.g., Voluma, Lyft)

    • Treatment area: Areas with more facial movement (like the lips and mouth) may break down filler faster

    • Your metabolism: Everyone processes filler differently—patients with faster metabolisms may see shorter results

    • Lifestyle: Sun exposure, exercise intensity, and skincare can all influence how long results last

    • Many patients find that regular maintenance treatments help preserve their results and support long-term facial balance.

DERMAL FILLER FAQ

  • Both are FDA-approved hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers, but they differ slightly in texture, technology, and how they behave in the skin. Juvederm tends to be smoother and more cohesive, while Restylane offers more structure and precision. The best choice depends on your goals and the treatment area.

  • Hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers like Juvederm and Restylane work by attracting and binding water within the skin, which adds volume, smooths lines, and enhances contour. HA is a substance that’s naturally found in your body, particularly in the skin and joints, so it's well-tolerated and integrates smoothly into tissue.

Once injected, the gel-like filler provides structure and support in areas of volume loss or contouring. Over time, your body gradually breaks down and absorbs the filler through natural metabolic processes—typically over 6 to 24 months, depending on the product, area, and your individual biology.

Bonus: HA fillers can also stimulate collagen production, giving the skin a long-term boost in texture and firmness even after the filler itself is gone!

  • At Jack Zamora MD, dermal fillers are priced per syringe, with most treatments ranging from $600 to $900 per syringe, depending on the product used and the treatment area.

    • Med Spa Injector pricing: $600–$900 per syringe

    • Physician injector pricing: Treatments performed by Dr. Maggie Kober start at $900 per syringe, reflecting her advanced skill and expertise in complex areas like the under-eyes, nose, and full-face contouring

The number of syringes needed varies based on your facial anatomy, goals, and whether you’re building volume or refining a previous result. During your consultation, we’ll create a personalized plan and provide a detailed quote.

  • Most fillers last 6 to 18 months, depending on the product, treatment area, and your metabolism. Areas with more movement—like the lips—tend to metabolize filler faster than areas like the cheeks or chin.

  • Filler injections are generally well tolerated. We use a topical numbing cream, and most fillers contain lidocaine to reduce discomfort during the procedure. You may feel a quick pinch or pressure, but it’s very manageable.

  • Not at all. We follow Dr. Zamora’s “less is more” philosophy and always aim for natural, balanced results. All patients are scheduled for a two-week follow-up to assess how the filler has settled and fine-tune if needed.

  • Skip workouts, alcohol, heat exposure, and facial treatments for 24–48 hours. Don’t massage or apply pressure to the area unless instructed. Sleep with your head elevated to minimize swelling.

  • Yes, when performed by an experienced injector. Dr. Maggie Kober performs nose filler (liquid rhinoplasty) treatments using advanced techniques to reshape, refine, and balance the nose without surgery. This is considered a higher-skill area and is only offered with our physician injector.

  • Yes, but it requires precision and deep anatomical knowledge. At Jack Zamora MD, under-eye filler is performed by Dr. Kober, a board-certified physician, to ensure safety and achieve smooth, natural-looking results.

  • We recommend getting filler at least 2-3 weeks before any major event. This allows time for swelling, bruising, and any minor adjustments to fully settle—especially in areas like the lips or under-eyes. While results are often visible immediately, optimal results develop over 7 to 14 days.

If you’re new to filler or planning multiple areas, we suggest scheduling 4 to 6 weeks ahead so we can create a phased treatment plan if needed.

  • Most patients notice visibly smoother, more radiant skin immediately after their treatment. Full results continue to improve over the next few days.

  • Dermal fillers are safe for most healthy adults, but you should not receive filler if you:

    • Are pregnant or breastfeeding

    • Have a history of severe allergies or anaphylaxis, especially to lidocaine or hyaluronic acid

    • Have an active skin infection, rash, or cold sore near the treatment area

    • Are undergoing dental work or major procedures within 2 weeks before or after filler

    • Have certain autoimmune or bleeding disorders (must be cleared by a physician)

Your injector will review your medical history during your consultation to make sure filler is safe and appropriate for you.

  • Yes, in some cases. Dermal fillers can be used to elevate and smooth certain types of depressed scars, like acne scars or volume-loss-related scarring. By lifting the skin beneath the scar, filler can reduce shadowing and create a more even skin texture.

However, not all scars are treatable with filler. The best approach depends on the depth, type, and location of the scar, as well as your skin’s response. During your consultation, your injector will assess whether filler—or another treatment like microneedling or laser would be more effective.
