WRINKLE
RELAXER

WHAT ARE WRINKLE RELAXERS?

Repeated facial movements like frowning, squinting, or raising your eyebrows cause the skin to crease over time. These natural expressions eventually lead to dynamic wrinkles and fine lines, especially on the forehead, around the eyes, and between the brows.

Botox and Dysport are FDA-approved injectable treatments made from botulinum toxin (OnabotulinumtoxinA). These wrinkle relaxers temporarily block nerve signals in the targeted facial muscles, reducing the muscle activity that causes wrinkles to form. As the muscles relax, expression lines soften and new wrinkles are prevented from forming.

While other botulinum toxin brands like Daxxify,Jeuveau, Letybo, and Xeomin, are also available in the U.S., we exclusively offer Botox and Dysport at Jack Zamora MD because of their proven results, reliability, and patient satisfaction.

BOTOX OR DYSPORT - WHICH SHOULD I CHOOSE?

Both Botox and Dysport work similarly, but your injector will guide you on the best choice for your anatomy and goals. Dysport may take effect slightly faster and spread more broadly, making it ideal for larger treatment zones. Botox offers highly localized results and is often preferred for smaller, targeted areas.

BOTOX & DYSPORT TREATMENT AREAS

We use neuromodulators to treat a variety of facial areas. Each injection is precisely placed to enhance your features while maintaining natural movement and expression.

Between the Brows : Frown Lines / 11s

Frowning or concentrating causes the muscles between your eyebrows to contract, creating vertical lines.

Forehead Lines

Raising your eyebrows engages the frontalis muscle, often leading to horizontal forehead creases.

Crow’s Feet

Squinting and smiling activate the muscles around the eyes, forming fine lines at the outer corners.

Neck Bands : Platysmal Bands

Vertical neck bands can be smoothed by relaxing the underlying muscles, improving the look of aged or crepey skin.

TMJ Relief & Jaw Slimming : Masseter Botox

Relaxing the masseter muscles, which are responsible for clenching and jaw tension. This can relieve symptoms of TMJ (temporomandibular joint disorder), reduce teeth grinding (bruxism), and even slim the lower face for a softer, more contoured jawline.

Lip Flip

A few small injections to the upper lip relax the surrounding muscles, allowing more of the lip to show for a fuller look—without filler.

Gummy Smile

Injections between the nose and mouth can reduce the appearance of a gummy smile by relaxing the upper lip.

Downturned Corners of the Mouth : DAO

Softening the depressor anguli oris muscle helps lift the corners of the mouth, restoring a neutral or pleasant resting expression.

Bunny Lines

Scrunching your nose can cause small diagonal lines across the bridge, also known as bunny lines.

Excessive Sweating : Underarms)

Botox for hyperhidrosis can reduce underarm sweating by blocking nerve signals that activate the sweat glands.

WHAT AGE SHOULD I START GETTING BOTOX?

There’s no “perfect age” to start Botox, it's more about your unique anatomy, muscle movement, and goals. Most patients begin considering Botox in their late 20s to early 30s, especially as a preventative measure to slow the development of dynamic wrinkles from repeated facial expressions.

If you notice fine lines that stay visible even when your face is at rest, that’s a good indicator it might be time to start. This approach, often called “prejuvenation,” can help preserve smooth skin and delay deeper lines from forming.

At Jack Zamora MD, your injector will assess your facial anatomy and customize a plan based on your goals, whether you're looking to treat existing wrinkles or get ahead of them.

WHAT HAPPENS AT MY BOTOX TREATMENT?

Your experience begins with a personalized consultation to review your goals, answer questions, and determine which product, Botox, Dysport, or a combination, will deliver the best results. We’ll also go over pre-treatment preparation and post-treatment care to make sure you’re set up for success.

Treatment Overview

  • Your total appointment will take about 30 minutes, with actual injections typically lasting 15 minutes or less.

  • Upon arrival, we’ll take before photos and review your goals and treatment plan.

  • Your injector will explain the areas being treated and the units recommended for each.

  • Botox or Dysport will be carefully drawn up and injected using a very fine needle.

After Your Treatment

Most patients experience little to no downtime. You may notice:

  • Mild swelling or redness at the injection sites

  • Tenderness or bruising (this varies by individual and resolves in a few hours to days)

Post-Treatment Tips

To minimize swelling and bruising:

  • Avoid heat, alcohol, or strenuous exercise for 24 hours

  • Don’t rub or massage the treated areas for at least 48 hours

  • Stay upright and avoid lying down for 4 hours post-treatment

  • Wait 2 weeks before getting facials, laser, or other cosmetic treatments in the area

When Will I See Results?

  • Dysport typically begins working within 2–3 days

  • Botox results usually appear within 3–5 days

  • Full effects of both are visible around 10–14 days post-treatment

Results last approximately 3 to 4 months, though this can vary depending on metabolism, lifestyle, and treatment area.

WRINKLE RELAXER FAQ

  • Both Botox and Dysport are made from a purified form of botulinum toxin type A, a neurotoxic protein derived from the Clostridium botulinum bacterium. In aesthetic medicine, these products are precisely formulated and carefully dosed to safely and temporarily relax facial muscles that cause expression lines and wrinkles.

While both products use the same active ingredient, they differ in formulation and molecular size, which affects how they spread, how quickly they take effect, and how they’re dosed. Your injector will help determine which is best for your treatment goals.

  • Both are wrinkle relaxers made from botulinum toxin. Dysport tends to work slightly faster and may spread more broadly, making it ideal for larger treatment areas. Botox offers more localized, targeted results. Your injector will determine which is best for your goals.

  • Yes, when administered by a trained provider, Botox and Dysport are very safe. Temporary side effects may include tenderness, swelling, or bruising at the injection site. Rare risks include drooping or allergic reaction. We thoroughly review your health history during your consultation to ensure the treatment is right for you.

  • You should avoid treatment if you:

    • Are pregnant or breastfeeding

    • Have a known allergy to botulinum toxin or any of the ingredients

    • Have a neuromuscular disorder such as ALS, myasthenia gravis, or Lambert-Eaton syndrome

    • Are currently experiencing an active skin infection at the injection site

We always recommend a consultation before getting any injectable treatment.

    • Dysport: Results begin in 2–3 days, with full effect in about 1 week.

    • Botox: Results start around 3–5 days, with full smoothing in 10–14 days.

  • Results typically last 3 to 4 months, depending on your metabolism, lifestyle, and treatment area. With consistent treatments, results may last longer over time.

  • Botox:
    With Cosmetic Injectors = $13/unit
    With Physician Injector = $16/unit

    Dysport
    With Cosmetic Injectors = $4/unit
    With Physician Injector = $6/unit

The cost of Botox and Dysport treatments can vary based on several factors, including the provider's expertise, geographic location, and the specific areas being treated. While Dysport has a lower cost per unit, the total number of units needed may be higher compared to Botox, making the overall treatment costs relatively comparable.

It's essential to consult with your provider to determine the appropriate product and dosage for your specific needs.

  • There’s no set age—it depends on your facial muscle activity and goals. Many patients start in their late 20s to early 30s to prevent fine lines before they deepen. This preventative approach, often called “prejuvenation,” helps maintain smoother skin over time.

  • Not at all, when performed correctly by a skilled injector. At Jack Zamora MD, our approach is conservative and precise. The goal is to soften wrinkles while preserving your natural expressions, so you look refreshed and not frozen.

  • Most patients find the treatment very tolerable. We use ultra-fine needles to minimize discomfort, and the injections are quick and typically done in 10 to 15 minutes. You may feel a brief pinch at each site, but discomfort is minimal and fades quickly.

  • Yes! Masseter Botox is a popular treatment for TMJ symptoms, teeth grinding (bruxism), and jaw tension. It can also help slim the jawline for a softer facial contour.
