The Skinvive Treatment
When you arrive for your appointment, photos will be taken, and treatment expectations will be discussed. The Skinvive treatment is performed in-office and typically lasts 30 minutes, with the actual injections taking about 15 minutes. Topical numbing is available and the Skinvive solution contains lidocaine for added comfort. After cleansing the treatment area, your injector will make multiple microdroplet injections into the dermal layer of the skin in a grid-like pattern to evenly dispense the hyaluronic acid within the tissue. Dozens of injections are made along the cheeks and lower face, other areas of concern can be treated as well. Within days, the microdroplets diffuse and incorporate into the skin, and the benefits of integrated HA become visible within the first few weeks, with full benefits peeking at 4-6 weeks and lasting 6-9 months. Skinvive Post Treatment Care
There is little to no downtime with the Skinvive treatment. You can expect initial redness and bumpiness immediately after your treatment, which should lessen within a few hours. Most patients also experience mild pinpoint bruising, swelling, lumpiness, and tenderness in the injection sites, and these effects will subside within 7-14 days, depending on how you heal. Minimize bruising and swelling by avoiding heat, strenuous exercise, and alcohol for 24 hours after your treatment. As with dermal fillers, we recommend you wait until the next day to apply makeup.

Treatment is highly individualized, but a general guideline some providers follow is one syringe per decade of life, so a 40-year-old might benefit from two syringes per cheek (or four total). That said, many patients see beautiful results with just one syringe per side, depending on their skin condition and goals. SKINVIVE has been available worldwide for years under the name VOLITE and is an injectable hyaluronic acid (HA) gel. HA is naturally occurring in the body, so the risk of rejection is extremely low, and any side effects are generally minor. SKINVIVE injections are an exceptionally safe procedure, typically causing minimal discomfort and requiring no downtime.
One of the risks with dermal filler injection is the unintentional injection into a blood vessel. The chances of this happening are very small, but if it does happen, the complications can be serious and may be permanent. These complications, which have been reported for facial injections, can include vision abnormalities, blindness, stroke, temporary scabs, or permanent scarring of the skin.

The most commonly reported side effects were redness, lumps/bumps, swelling, bruising, pain, tenderness, firmness, discoloration and itching. Most side effects will resolve within 7 days. If they persist longer, your physician may choose to treat them with medications, such as antibiotics, steroids, or hyaluronidase. Additionally, there have been reports of inflammation, nodules, unsatisfactory result, loss or lack of improvement, allergic reaction, anxiety, blood vessel blockage, infection, dry skin, increase or decrease in sensation, and abscess. Delayed-onset inflammation near the site of dermal filler injections is one of the known adverse events associated with dermal fillers. As with all skin injection procedures, there is a risk of infection.
